About Us


Our Mission

The Board of Recreation Commissioners is committed to improving the quality of life of the citizens of Monmouth County by providing open space, park and recreation areas, facilities, programs, and services of the highest quality and to furnishing these recreational and educational opportunities in the most effective, efficient, and economical manner possible. The Board shall pursue this mission in the following ways:

  1. by studying, planning, acquiring, improving, and managing lands of county significance for parks, recreation, conservation, agricultural, and open-space preservation;
  2. by protecting and interpreting natural, historic, and cultural resources of county significance;
  3. by providing recreational facilities, programs, and services to meet the county-wide needs of the citizens of Monmouth County for the recreation and well-being of body, mind, and spirit; and
  4. by implementing this mission in accordance with the Board’s adopted County Park and Recreation Policy and other adopted policies of the Board.

National Accreditation Program

The Monmouth County Park System is proud to have achieved national accreditation status among park and recreation agencies in 1994, 2004 and 2014. Conferred by the National Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies and sanctioned by the American Academy for Parks and Recreation Association, the Monmouth County Park System was the first park & recreation agency in the nation accredited and is one of only 71 such accredited agencies in the nation to have achieved such an honor.

Lost and Found

Found items remain in the park for several days. If unclaimed, they are forwarded to the Headquarters Building in Thompson Park, Lincroft. For more info, call 732-842-4000, ext. 4382.

Persons ages 65 and older are eligible for golf and other senior discounts.
