Curious to find out what Natural Horsemanship is all about? Watch as members of the Sunnyside staff play with the therapy horses on the ground and in the saddle. Q&A time will be provided. FREE!

What is Natural Horsemanship? - Demonstration and Q&A
Saturday, June 1 from 9-10am

The basic principles of Natural Horsemanship can be summed up in four words: Relationship, Understanding, Communication, and Trust. Whether you love horses from a distance or are an avid rider, come meet Bekah Koutsos 2 Star Parelli Professional and find out more about how you can work with a horse in the most loving, effective and efficient way possible for lasting results and success. Bekah will provide a question and answer period at the end of the demonstration and will be available to those who want to learn more about starting (or continuing) the journey into natural horsemanship.

The Equestrian Center

The center features an 18-stall stable, an outdoor instructional ring, and an 80’ x 200’ indoor arena that allows the Park System to offer year-round lessons. To learn more about lessons, click here. 

Therapeutic Horseback Riding

This program is dedicated to helping people with physical and cognitive disabilities achieve their personal goals through horseback riding.  The experience of riding a horse provides physical, emotional and psychological stimuli.  Meeting for 30 minutes each week, students work to improve balance, muscle tone, posture and more. More than a dozen carefully chosen and specially trained horses participate in the program. SPUR

Special People United to Ride partners with the Park System to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in a therapeutic riding program. Established in 1981, SPUR has raised funds for the construction of the Equestrian Center, student scholarships, acquisition of therapy horses, purchase of special riding equipment and training of instructors. Garden State Parkway to Exit 109. Southbound, turn right onto Rt. 520 west (Newman Springs Road); Northbound, turn left onto Rt. 520 west. Continue to Middletown-Lincroft Road. Turn right and continue 2 miles to entrance on right.
